Good news for vegetarians
A vegetarian diet is associated with longer life expectancy, according to a new study published in the journal “JAMA Internal Medicine.”
Extensive research conducted on 73,308 Adventists showed that vegetarianism reduces the risk of premature death, especially in men.
Experts wanted to explore the relationship between diet and mortality, and the results show that a vegetarian diet reduces the risk of developing several chronic diseases, including high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and heart disease.
Michael Orlih from Loma Linda University in California, and his colleagues examined the causes of death among 73 308 members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, among which there are many who believe that a vegetarian diet is recommended to biblical teaching.
