You can purchase banana flowers at at farmers markets, road stands, and even grocery stores. Banana flower, also known as banana heart, is a tear-shaped maroon or purplish flower hanging at the end of banana clusters, and  is a common ingredient in the South-East Asian cuisine. Both the South Asians and Southeast Asians use the banana flower as a vegetable, raw or steamed with dips, in soups, curries and fried foods. Their flavor is similar to that of the artichoke.

When it comes to a ’no wastage’ policy, the banana tree is the ideal one, since all of its parts can be used. We are all familiar with the health benefits of the bananas, but other parts of the tree also provide numerous health benefits!

  • Step 7: After the dish is almost ready, put in the grated coconut and stir well
